Vivienne Westwood has a treat in (Selfridges) store for shoe aficionados

As if a Selfridge's Shoe Lounge, due to open in September, wasn’t enough to ignite a frenzy. Additional intrigue comes in the form of a Vivienne Westwood shoe retrospective. The exhibition, named Vivienne Westwood Shoes: An Exhibition – 1973-2010 celebrates the unique talent and design expertise of one of Britain’s most iconic fashion designers. It encapsulates the inimitable vision that the designer has sustained along with her favourable notion to not be bound by conventions.

Designs such as the extremely vertiginous blue Gillie that sent Naomi Campbell tumbling on the catwalk in 1993 are displayed. More recent creations from her collaboration with rubber designer Melissa have also taken stage along with the Pirate boots that have remained a footwear perennial since their inception in 1981.

The extensive selection of fanciful footwear will be displayed in Selfridges’ permanent arts and exhibition space The Ultralounge from August 26 to September 22 and features 200 designs spanning over 30 years of Vivenne Westwood’s career. The exhibition is a story of designs and dreams ensconced in the largest shoe emporium ever seen in the UK. It’s a not-to-be-missed manifestation of the one item that Westwood considers to be the ultimate fetish object: shoes.

Everybody wants A Bit Of Acne

If only the brand name was as desirable as the clothes. Fear not because it's not a referral to the notorious teenage kind but simply an abbreviation for Ambition for Creative Novel Expressions. Imaginative huh? Makes you stop and think, which is a clever move Mr Jonny Johansson. This Swedish brand has had me hooked since I stumbled across it whilst interning at Yellowdoor - the PR agency in charge of raising the Acne profile. Initially, I was over-impressed with the long length of Acne jeans. Always a thumbs-up for lanky-legged me. Then came the consistent impressive nods when each and every garment wafted that effortlessly stylish air. Fashion's infatuation with sumptuous leather is uniquely reflected in Acne's A/W 2010 range. Our lust for a leather dress is satisfied with the coveted Alpa and Ara (see images).
My penchant for a streamlined silhouette with added contemporary volume has me loving Acne's Callisto 2 oversized jacket. Amalgamated with the infamous Acne skinny jean and their contrasting chunky structured footwear this is a brand that's definitely winning in the style stakes.

Best Boots

I have a slight obsession for over-knee boots. Thankfully, designers have ushered in a whole load more to tantalise my taste for excessive footwear. For me, Stella McCartney's studded knee-high Boots represent the best in boots this season.

Cake Pops!

Now I know that my blog is dedicated to the most delectable clothes, shoes etc but I couldn't resist to honour a space on my blog to Cakepops. A delicious itsy-bitsy orb of cake on a stick and decorated in a myriad of ways. They're novelty is imitable.
They're the latest confectionery concept set to dethrone the celebrated cupcake. I've heard about these sweet pleasantries but after stumbling across the blog http://popbakery.blogspot.com I am now officially a cakepop groupie. I am following their every move and hope that, one day, I can indulge in my very own Pop. At Pop Bakery you can even design your own Pops and have them delivered. If it were my party I'd have clusters of hats and handbags, shoes and boots - just to test their pop moulding ability.

Oh No, No Logo? (snigger)

THE NEW LOUIS VUITTON HANDBAG
Images from the Telegraph

We have become accustomed to the conspicuous scattering of the Louis Vuitton 'monogram' logo pattern so an LV handbag, devoid of it's usual status symbols, is bound to raise eyebrows. It does look rather strange. It's Nude. But then what isn't right now in the world of fashion?
The luxury handbag and accessory industry is anticipating a seismic shift in logo emblazonment. Hoo-bloody-ray! I've never caught on to the trend of logo infested accessories. It's all a bit try-hard and look at me with my DESIIIGNERRR bag! That and they were never going to rid themselves of the "Is it or isn't it fake?" conundrum. I personally thought that they all looked the same. Sorry to all discerning LV investors (Paris Hilton, WAGS etc etc).

Some say that it has been a move progressing for some time but the ubiquitous minimalist trend (I keep harping on about it) has solidified that a discreet luxury is imminent. Post-recession consumers are opting for the less is more aesthetic as a pose to emblem excess.

Gucci, a brand renowned for its G emblem, said that its decision to cut back on such ostentatious logo display has seen its profits soar. In all honesty, I have always favoured Gucci's less invasive brand identity: the bamboo and horse-shoe motif. Both emit oodles more luxury than a bombardment of G's. I know that I would, definitely, be more inclined to make a LV purchase if logos were eliminated. And, of course, after I've accumulated a small fortune.

These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things:

This skirt is the epitome of lady-like cool. It's draping detail on the hip emphasises your curves whilst its calf grazing length will flatter a fuller figure. Team with insouciant separates such as a vest for day or inject metallic surges for night such as a statement gold cuff.
VIVIENNE WESTWOOD ANGLOMANIA FROM MY-WARDROBE.COM £243

This dress is sheer luxe! The sheath of champagne coloured silk and curve contouring skirt exemplifies the hottest hue of the season.

I have many dresses in this classic shape but I love an injected contemporary twist. The asymmetrical scooped neckline with peek-a-boo lacing is the epitome of coquettish chic.

Dream Boots

The sandal-loving summer months see boots retreat from our fashion sphere. However, now that the clouds are rolling in and bare feet feel inappropriate, our more cumbersome cover ups are re-emerging on the catwalks. This autumn/winter boots have had a rather fancy facelift. We knew that it wouldn’t be long but designers have surpassed our expectations and conjured up the boots of dreams. Longer, higher, wider and satisfactorily saturated - boots have blossomed into accoutrements brimming with attitude. They are the perfect partnering for the more sober template making its mark on the fashion scene. Whilst we’re welcoming this pared-down aesthetic it would be wrong to shun the element of fantasy that has remained intrinsic to fashion. Whilst clothes are representing the new unfussy femininity boots are projecting that unconventional desirability that keeps fashion fun.

Christian Dior unveiled buckle bedecked boots and stud lined soles that championed a ruling utilitarian vibe. Tommy Hilfiger celebrated the over-knee styles with lashings of lace. This particular style is predicted to be the indispensable boot of the coming seasons and why not? If you have oodles of patience to configure lengths of lace then make these you’re A/W perennial. Burberry Prorsum also delighted with sheepskin lined calf- huggers – the perfect pair to enliven this season’s wealth of coats. Python skin boots also added panache amongst a procession of tough-luxe Dior footwear.

We can certainly say that boots of all shapes and sizes are rife this autumn/winter. Kurt Geiger, Topshop and Zara are just a few design-led high-street stalwarts mimicking the fashionable foot candy. What ever style you opt for ensure that your pair upstages any outfit because, this season, It's all about boots.

Reiss A/W 2010

I am a Zara afficionado and I have the odd French Connection splurge but Reiss has to be my definitive high-street safe haven. We can count on Reiss to deliver viable garments that exemplify the key elements of the season's collections. This Autumn/Winter 2010 is no exception. Reiss is currently taking delivery of the best in grown-up femininity. Reiss by-products exude all that is smart, sexy and polished - akin to this new wave of refined fashion that is settling in comfortably.

The current collection boasts military style coats, capes and an aviator style jacket, reminiscent of the one seen at Burberry Prorsum. Sumptuous leather remains a key favourite throughout the season. Yves Saint Laurent and Celine demonstrated that this is a trend not on the brink of obsolescence any time soon. Lace has also segued through to the coming seasons. Seen at Givenchy, Dolce and Gabbana and Christopher Kane this intricacy is perfect when partnered with tougher sartorial elements such as strict tailoring and the aforementioned lustrous leather.

Below are my favourite ensembles of the A/W 2010 Mainline Collection:

Fleur Wide neck t-shirt £35, Heather Leatherette skirt £79

Celine penetrates our desire for the leather look

Candy Stitch detail cape £195 Dree Paper bag trouser £110

Patrice Batwing coat £245

Andrea Leather biker jacket £325

Burberry instigates an Aviator jacket frisson

Franklin Casual jersey trouser £110, Malone Skinny stud belt £59, Randall Over the knee boot £245

Dominique Jersey lace top £65

Christopher Kane displays fashion's love for lace

Anders Seam detail jumper £89

Boyce Military shirt £110, Ross Slim leg denim £79
